The Forest Stewardship Council offers a voluntary, independent, third-party global certification system to promote good forest stewardship.
FSC-certified forests
- protect waterways and the habitat of many animal and plant species;
- conserve areas of high biodiversity;
- minimise the impact of logging and harvesting operations;
- they counteract the conversion of natural forests into plantations;
- regularly monitor forest management practices in situ;
- respect the rights of local populations;
- They prohibit the use of genetically modified trees.
